The reason lies in what the place is. Chamonix is a town on the valley floor, with an older building stock, a permanent population and a wider range of property than a resort built for skiing. Yes, and that is what sets Chamonix apart from the winter resorts. In holiday letting, summer takes up a large share of the calendar, with walkers, climbers and numbers that rise sharply through July and August. The work changes character across the months. Winter demands a fast pace and close technical follow-up; summer calls for more outdoor upkeep and stays that often run to a fortnight, so fewer changeovers. Two quieter spells remain, in November and in spring. They are used for works, for putting things right and for readying the coming season, which single-season resorts have to squeeze into a few weeks.

Yes. Argentière and Le Tour are part of the commune of Chamonix and are handled the same way, with properties that are often more spacious and direct access to Les Grands Montets or the Balme area. Les Houches, Servoz and Vallorcine are neighbouring communes, but the valley works as one: the same suppliers, the same trades, the same clientele. A property there is treated no differently. The one thing that really changes is which ski area it serves and how long it takes to reach the centre. Both are stated on each property's page, rather than left to the visitor to work out.
